Democracy fears as town effectively disenfranchised

Chaotic scenes at Westminster yesterday as MPs formed a kilometre-long queue to vote through the end of the remote parliament system which allowed representatives to participate from their homes during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The end of the remote parliament and a return to voting in-person is not without critics, especially as those MPs in higher-risk categories will effectively be barred from going through the lobbies as social distancing measures still need to be followed.
Utter farce

With Huddersfield's MP Barry Sheerman now 79 years of age, the town is left without a voice in Parliament after the farcical scenes of a queue of MPs snaking round the Palace of Westminster and taking 90 minutes to vote through the proposal from Leader of The House, Jacob Rees-Mogg. Further farce followed with vox-popped MPs saying it was ridiculous to end the system which had generally worked well before then going and voting to end it anyway.

This flies in the face of the governments own advice to people to work from home where possible while the pandemic goes on. It clearly is possible for MPs to work remotely and for the sake of the franchise, they must be allowed to continue to do so.

This paper is very concerned at the lack of a voice for the town and are combining with publications from areas similarly affected to campaign for a reversal to this and a restoration of the remote system for as long as is necessary and lol just joking here are 30-odd tweets about a multi-national burger franchise reopening.
